Tips for Buying a Wedding Dress
If you’re getting married, buying the perfect wedding dress most likely tops your list of wedding priorities. Whether you’ve dreamt of a gorgeous, princess dress with a long train, or a beautiful sleek, form-fitting dress, there are several things to consider before buying your dress. Below is a list of things you’ll want to consider as you begin your search:
- Decide on your wedding budget. From there, determine how much of your budget you can spend on a wedding gown. It’s important to decide how much you’d like to spend before you begin shopping, or there’s a good chance you’ll blow your budget!
- Once you’ve decided on your budget, you have several options to consider: you could use your wedding dress budget to rent a dress, or buy a used wedding dress. You can also find great deals on un-used wedding dresses by looking for designer sales, or dresses being sold by women who bought a dress and ended up not getting married, or who bought more than one dress for their wedding. And of course, if you’ve got the money to spend, you can buy a brand new dress by a top designer!
- Use the internet! You can research designers and styles before you even leave your home. Additionally, you can use the internet to find deals like those mentioned above: used wedding dresses, wedding dresses for rent, and other great deals.
- Be open-minded. You don’t know what style dress will look best on you until you’ve tried on several. Just because you like the way a dress looks in a picture doesn’t mean you’ll like the way it looks on you.
- Be prepared. When shopping for wedding dresses, you should wear shoes similar to those you’ll wear on your wedding day. This will give you a better idea of alterations that may or may not be needed. Also, you should wear your hair and makeup close to how you’ll wear it on your wedding day. This will give you a better sense of your overall look.
- Take along a trusted friend or family member when you’re trying on dresses. It’s great to get a second opinion as to what styles are most flattering for your figure. Just make sure that whoever you take knows you well and understands what you want.
