Pros and Cons of Buying a New Wedding Dress

Buying a Wedding Dress is most likely the most important thing you’ll do in preparation for your wedding. You have several options to consider in making that purchase: you could rent a dress, buy a new dress, or buy a used dress wedding dress. The following is a list of the pros and cons of buying a new wedding dress.

Pros:

-You can find exactly the dress and designer you want. If you decide that you have the budget and desire to buy a wedding dress, then you won’t be constrained by the choices available among rental or used wedding dress (although you may be constrained by your budget).

-You have the sentimental aspect of having a dress that is all yours. When you buy a brand new dress, you can know that your dress was worn on the most important day of your life and no one else’s.

-You can pull out your dress in years to come to show your children or to simply remember your special day.

Cons:

-The cost of buying a new wedding dress is significantly more than renting or buying a used dress. In fact, you’ll probably spend half of the amount you’d spend on a new dress if you decide to rent or buy a used dress.

-Besides the cost of buying the dress, there is a significant cost associated with preserving a wedding dress (upwards of $100).

-The dress will only be worn once and then will most likely only take up space in your closet or storage area.

Whether or not you decide to buy a new wedding dress for your big day, it is important that you feel beautiful and happy on your wedding day. If you feel that you need your own dress for sentimental reasons, then you should buy a new wedding dress. If you are more budget conscious and don’t mind hanging onto wedding photos and other items to remember your special day, then you may consider the options of renting or buying a used dress.
